Occupy Lazy America
70I would like to tell you about a young woman named Erica. One night my wife and I went to fill up, oh... sorry, put gas in the tank. No one can afford to fill their tank up these day's, thanks to a socialist plot to force people onto government assistance. Any way, after paying what I could afford, I came out to the car and saw that a young woman was talking to my wife, Kansa. Her name was Erica and she only wanted some help to find a gas can or maybe a ride down the street, more likely a ride down the street, so she could help her friends with some money that she had. Because her fiends did not have enough gas to to get home.
I explained to Erica that we did not have a gas can but we could give her a ride. It turned out that Erica was doing all of this to try and find a container for gas when her friends already had one. They just did not have the money to get the gas. We dropped her off where Erica off where here friends were supposed to be and she offered to buy us some food with her food stamps in return for our help. My wife and I both told her to return the favor to some in need, and we would call it good. As I look back on that night I must ask myself, what were Erica's friends doing to help themselves? Where they just waiting for Erica or would they have offered to clean someones house or paint a fence, or even sell their bodies, to get the money they needed.
The exchange of one favor for another or Tit for Tat, is as basic form of economy as you can get. Even in our population's lowest income regions, Tit for Tat is used as a means of survival. But it still works on the principle that you have something that I need or want and therefore I will exchange work or property for what I want or need. Erica knew that we had a food shortage at house so she offered her food stamps as restitution for our services. My wife and I however were helping her out of the kindness of our hearts and therefore could not except the offer. But God provides for us, as we came home, one of the women from our church came to the house with a bag of groceries. However there is a big difference between Charity and Socialism.
America is facing a disturbing trend as our lower income families have become so dependent on social programs that food stamp treading has become an acceptable form of underground currency. In casual conversation among the homeless or lower income population in modern America, there is a term for this phenomenon (Welfare Rich). As a result of this over dependency on government assistance children are taught to play the government game and manipulate the social programs. Which results in an opposing subculture that seems to think it is a bad thing to ever want to go to work.
Further evidence of this has recently been seen in cities across America with the Occupy Wall Street protests. Where almost 98% of the participants happen to be taking advantage of a government social program of some kind. Even more interesting to me is the fact that the leaders of the protests are or seem to be ex-hippies trying to relive their youth.
I would also like to point out that not one person who participates in a social program pays a full amount of taxes into the system, do to the fact that the taxes that they may pay are being handed right back to them. Further if you are on SSI or SSD and have never worked a day in you life, you have never payed taxes. Therefore you have never payed into the system, meaning you can't own a part of that system. If you don't own a part of a company you don't have a right to vote in how the company is being run: the same should go for the American electoral process. If you don't pay taxes you should not be allowed to VOTE.
Erica, the girl at the beginning of this article was on food stamps because she was homeless. She is proud to finally have a job cleaning houses for a living and when she came up to us, she never asked for money. She only asked us to help her, help her friends. But Socialism is a means of government control. One member of the Occupy Portland protest told me that, “Socialism is the next progression in society.” Unfortunately he is right. Socialism is the next progression in a dieing society. The first stage is Democracy. Because democracy is governed over by the people, with nothing to stop the will of the masses; therefore the people would always do what is good for the individual at the time. Furthermore, if the the will of the individual is ethically corrupted, so is the government that is run by the people. It is for this reason that America has a Constitution to put limits on government. For if we did not have it, mobs such as Occupy would be gunned down in the streets for social upheaval. Just maybe the people involved with Occupy need to realize that the Constitution they wish to abolish has kept them alive. After all many of the leaders of Occupy are HIPPIE REJECTS who would have been killed for the social unrest they have caused in any other country. On the other hand, Occupy was or is a manifestation of a much bigger problem.
Ten years ago you would have to go to the yellow pages to find a lawyer who handles Social Security claims, but now-a-days we can't turn on a TV or Radio and avoid hearing about a lawyer wanting to take your case. Please people! Has America become so lazy that we refuse to work for our own meals? Could this be why all the work is going over seas? I had an employers ask me, what happened to the good old days when our illegal immigrants worked hard. Before I could answer someone made the joke, “They became American,” every one laughed because it is true. Americans have lost our will to work.
In 1915 my family came to America from Ireland. My Grandfather got a job driving a truck for a man named Frank Nitti, he was nine years old at the time and he never stopped working. He told us the day you retire is the day you die, two weeks after he was forced to retire he didn't wake up. What happened to that kind of commit in our American Work Ethic? If a man who would go to work for a mobster would never think to ask for government assistance, why would it be socially acceptable for, so called hard working honest Americans to live off of the government dime?
Many of us seem to think that the world owes us something. Will let me tell you, considering the fact that we are the world, we should be thinking that we owe our selves something. At one point I started working for a company called Vector Marketing. On my first day the man doing the orientation said that, “the only way you can fail at this job is be giving up on yourself.” I was sure that every one in the room wold have taken that statement as encouragement, but after we were released, a young woman told me that she needed a job that pays. While I didn't know her circumstances, I thought it was amazing to me that she would pass up a potentially great paying job with opportunity for advancement based on performance rather than politics, for an hourly wage.
The instructor said that most Americans have an employee mentality, meaning that they would rather go to work and get paid for being there and not have to work for a living. What happened to the American dream of independence? Vector is a job that requires you to keep your own schedule. You get paid as much as you are willing to work. No one can tell you that we don't have enough money to work you, it is the company model of the future. Yet because people would rather have their livelihood handed to them rather than work for a living, they look for and hourly wage. Is this why we have so many people trying to get SSI rather than a job?
America is the land of opportunity because its what you make of it. If you are willing to work hard you can make your dreams come true, but people have lost site of working hard. In stead they want our government to take care of them at the expense of those of us who do work for a living. That is what Occupy Wall Street was all about. We don't need government control in America, if you want socialism go to any country other than America and leave us hard working honest Americans who do pay our taxes alone. By they way any one can open a swiss bank account, and thanks to the patriot act I have to pay both American and swiss taxes on mine. Occupy Stupidity is saying that the rich don't pay their fair share of taxes, I say that if they found a way to avoid them then more power to them. Unlike the welfare rich they earned their money thanks to this land of opportunity that these Democratic Social Terrorists want to take away. If you want to make your money get off of your but and stop sucking up our taxes. Get a job, go back to school and hit the ground running. For the only way to get ahead in this world is to break a sweat. America needs to get rid of Social Programs and start telling people that if you are not willing to work we don't have to feed you. After all there is no such thing as a disability in the age of communication, therefore the only aid any one should have to ask for is training.
