60The Declaration of War
“When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation” (The Declaration of independence).Over 2036 years ago these words became the proverbial shot that was heard from around the world. The men who signed this document could have been known as treaters against the reining establishment of their day. It has been said that history is written by the victors, well the truth is that no one wins a war. The best that the Sons of Liberty could hope for was a chance to start over. They knew that any form of Government they might come up with would have to be protected form humanities imperfections. In truth they didn't even consider a man anything more than a Torry or British sympathizer if you did not stand up for change.
In fact Jefferson writes, “when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security” (The Declaration of Independence).
This famous line, found in the second paragraph of the American declaration of war against Britain, demands that every American is willing to stand up for injustice. Jefferson and his brothers at arms, saw how governments slowly take control over the people whom they have been instated to serve and protect. As a result the Sons of Liberty, tried to inspire future generations to stand up for their God given right to be human.
The document cites Twenty-eight individual offenses that King George had committed against the citizens of England. America's first declaration of war out lined how King George placed himself above the law. How else would you interpret, “He has refused his assent to laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good” (The Declaration of Independence). We can go even further to say that our founding fathers did not declare war on England but rather her Monarchy. As a result they desired to form a government which was ruled by the people for the common good of the people.
However, America today is not the same woman she was in her youth. In today's America you are fined $200.00 for not waring a seatbelt while you are driving. They say that the law is to protect America's citizens. Let's get real! The fact is that if you die, the American government looses out on potential income. After all we are being taxed for the vary air we breath.
As our prices go up for our every day living, people justify it by calling the phenomenon inflation. When in truth it is, “an ingenious way of concealing an unrepresented tax,” says,Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. If this is the case, than our American Government has become the vary animal that our founding fathers feared the most and is in great need of reform.
